The solo show of one of my personal favourites Stephan Doitschinoff (aka: Calma) opens at the always interesting Galeria Choque Cultural in Vila Madalena today (Saturday 23rd November). The opening is at 16h and the exhibition will run until 23rd December. The show will feature a new series of work by Stephan Doitschinoff produced in his recently set up workshop in Chapada Diamantina in the city of Lençóis (in the interior of Bahia).
At the opening of the exhibition, there will also be the launch of a limited edition booklet, produced during the project: “Ponte (Bridge): São Paulo – Juazeiro do Norte” which took place in the state of Ceará in August. Stephan Doitschinoff spent 10 days learning how cordel (literally ‘string’) literature was produced and used this knowledge to produce this booklet in the famous Lira Nordestina publishing house using traditional woodcut printing methods. You can see the film about the making of this booklet below.
Where: Galeria Choque Cultural, Rua Medeiros de Albuquerque, 250, São Paulo, Brazil
When: from 23rd November to 23rd December 2013. Monday to Saturday 11 -18h.
