Plenty of good stuff going on in Rio at the moment, and Home Grown is regularly the place to see it. This time Marcelo Eco, a graffiti artist from Rio is exhibiting in his home city. Eco’s exhibition entitled “Dcara” kicks off on August the 7th.
Lifted directly from Marcelo Eco’s website..here his a description of him (already in English), and a video of him working below:
“Marcelo Eco is part of the first generation of graffiti artist in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His trademark and brand character is known as the “Pointy Chin” and is created with long, lineal, and quick strokes. It is normal to find his characters all over Rio de Janeiro. The bodies, by three dimensional effects, seem to dive in and out of the walls. Eco is accustomed to transitioning with fluidity from painting in the streets on his own, as well as the corporate world for large companies such as Sony, Brookfield and Jonny Walker. He has performed his work all over the world in places such as Italy, Holland, France, Spain, Germany, Argentina and Angola. He does projects and set designs for music videos as well as shows for the most popular TV channels in Brazil. His key exhibits are: Art Paris located in the Grand Palais (France), Galerie Adler Paris (France), Gallery (LCG RJ-Madrid/Spain), WSA (Argentina), MAC – Museum of Contemporary Art (Niterói, RJ), MAM – Museum of Modern Art (RJ) and MuBE – Brazilian Museum of Sculpture (SP).”
