This show is from the artist Kid Acne who I strangely only became familiar with since living in Brazil. He was over here at some point and produced some Brazilian inspired wood block prints, which I discovered on one of my first ever visits to Galleria Choque Cultural and really liked, and eventually bought one to give as a wedding present for a friend back home at one point, but was in two minds whether to keep it for myself (see image right, Melhor Que Nada – translates as Better Than Nothing)
Anyway, Kid Acne is exhibiting in the town were he currently works and lives, which is Sheffield, and the Standard Practice exhibition is a celebration of his 15 years of print making. As well as prints Kid Acne is a graffiti writer and also a hip hop musician.
This Sheffield exhibition is the first of a series of solo print exhibitions he will be hosting in Sheffield, London and Los Angeles over the next months. I’ll try and keep you posted on the others.
