The number of workshops and courses about graffiti and street art has been increasing rapidly it seems, so I thought it was maybe about time I start helping in spreading the word about some of the ones going down in Sao Paulo, often ran by well known artists themselves, and possibly helping to produce the future stars of the scene. So if you are interested in learning more about stuff then there are currently a couple of things you could sign up for. I must emphasise that I can’t vouch for the quality of any courses as I’ve never done one myself, and I suggest that unless otherwise stated, then they will be held purely in Portuguese.
First up is a one day workshop being held by Brazilian hyper-realist graffiti writer Sipros. It is being hyped as a Graffiti Workshop, and being held on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of January, 2015. The Workshop is 1 day, so sign up for one of the two dates. The cost is $R350 if paid upfront, or they are offering 2 monthly installments, which will end up costing you R$430, which doesn’t seem like a great deal to me. The value includes materials and coffee break, and is held at FineArtBrasil. The pre-requisites for the course are just a basic artistic ability.
The workshop is held in Vila Mariana, near Paraiso Metro station. For more details and to register for the course, check out the Fine Art Brasil website: If your unfamiliar with Sipros then a couple of my photos below should give you an idea of his work.
