It has been a while since Cidade Cinza was on at the cinemas and it is currently available on iTunes for download, but there is still a chance to see it on the big screen, and at my favourite price – FREE.
This Sunday Cidade Cinza has been chosen to kick-start Project RacioCine – which is a monthly cinema club created to generate discussion and reflection of current themes through the display of films and documentaries, and followed by debates with special guests.
This is the first film chosen for the group, and in addition to the films directors, the street artist and activist Mundano will be present along with Journalist Paulo Motoryn. The film is really worth watching, its extremely interesting and shows extensive footage of some of the major names from Sao Paulo’s street art scene such as Os Gemeos, Nunca, Ise, Fino and Nina.
The theme of the film, seems to once again, unfortunately, back in the news. Nunca, who is one of the artists featured heavily in the film, whose work was erased apparently by mistake, yesterday took to his Intstagram account to document history being repeated. A huge panel of his work was painted over on 23 de Maio, so the debate is definitely still relevant unfortunately.
WHERE: MIS (Museu da Imagem e Som), Avenida Europa, 158. Jardim Europa, Sao Paulo.
WHEN: Sunday June 8th, 18:00. Opening cocktail begins at 17:00 and Free tickets need to be collected 1 hour before the session (and I guess they are limited, so arrive early to avoid disappointment).
